Retail Roundup: 360 Condos Shopping, Dining and Entertainment

Located close to the booming 2nd Street district, and not far from the legendary nightlife of 6th Street, and on the edge of the Warehouse entertainment district, 360 Condominium residents enjoy close proximity to more than 100 restaurants and nightclubs, as well as some of Austin’s best clothing and furniture boutiques.

And locals love shopping local retailers downtown, like finding chic fashions at Francesca’s, great casual denim from Girl Next Door, or Austin’s finest in locally crafted jewelry and exciting accessories at Eliza Page. Area men’s fashion retailers include Bonobos, Estilo, and Urban Outfitters. Mercury Studios, Design Within Reach, and BoConcept, all just steps away from the 360, where they sell sleek, beautiful contemporary furniture and home furnishings.

360 residents also enjoy the nearby Whole Foods Flagship store — less than a 5-minute walk from the building. This Whole Foods Market is a spectacular, 80,000-square-foot, 2-story market that provides fresh and organic groceries, restaurant areas, and ready-made healthy meals to take home. In addition, Central Market is not far for everyday shopping needs.

Exclusive Brands at The Domain and Nine Other Major Malls

The Domain, Austin’s premier shopping destination, is just a little more than 15 minutes from home. Exclusive retailers such as Niemen Marcus, Tiffany & Co., Louis Vuitton, Diesel, Apple Store, Arhaus, and Cole Haan are among about 100 stores and restaurants all arranged in a fabulous outdoor setting. Restaurants include McCormick & Schmick’s, NoRTH, Copper Restaurant & Dessert Lounge, and Sushi Zushi, to name a few.

There are nine more major shopping destinations within a 15-minute drive of the 360 Condominiums, including Barton Creek Square Mall, the Arboretum at Great Hills, the Village at Westlake, Shops at Arbor Walk, Sunset Valley Market Fair, Escarpment Village, Southpark Meadows, Gateway, and Arbor Trails. Together, these shopping centers host more than 600 retailers, department stores, movie theaters, restaurants, local merchants, and service

Peach Glazed Pork Chops and Warm Chocolate Pudding Cake

Congress is one of the best and most praised restaurants in town, and is less than a 10-minute walk from the 360 Condos. While the food and service are, well, fancy, it’s Austin, so stepping in wearing a pair of jeans and a polo shirt will cut it just fine. The chef at Congress is known for inventive and creative dishes with bold flavors. Each Monday through Saturday, the restaurant creates 3-course and 7-course tasting menus, available with highly thoughtful wine pairings. While the menu changes daily to allow Chef David Bull to follow his inspiration creating the freshest and most flavorful dishes from the best seasonal ingredients, expect surprising and incredibly delicious food.

Sandra Bullock’s Bess Bistro, about a 5-minute walk from the 360, purposely defies categorization, serving an eclectic menu of delicious and fine food. The Shrimp Bess is pan sautéed in a Creole butter sauce and served with grilled ciabatta. The Grilled Bone-In Pork Chop is delectable. A peach glazed pork chop served with a goat cheese stuffed twice-baked squash and grilled Texas peaches are heavenly. For those who want a more traditional dish, the Bess Burger is a house ground organic burger with white cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onions and house pickles served with truffle and parmesan pommes frites.  Desserts here are hard to pass up. The Warm Chocolate Pudding Cake served with malted ice cream is out of this world.

And there are plenty more fine dining restaurants within walking distance, too.  Parkside, Swift’s Attic Gastropub, Eddie V’s Prime Seafood, and the Four Season’s TRIO restaurant are just a few of the many within walking distance downtown.

Casual Austin Is Tasty, Too

Of course, there are plenty of casual places to catch a great meal around downtown. Some of the best hamburgers and chili cheese fries in Austin are available at 6th Street watering hole Casino El Camino — and there’s not another bloody mary in town that will beat one of the fiery delicious concoctions Casino whips up on a weekend morning.

The Best Wurst sausage and hot dog food cart has been receiving rave reviews from diners since they sold their first brat. Don’t miss out on the curry ketchup or unbeatable sauerkraut, either. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There are many other food stands and bars with delicious food to explore.
