Stepping Up to Leadership: Steiner Ranch Residents Now Shape Our Community’s Future

Steiner Ranch Master Association Board (L-R): Bill Menzies, President; Dave Doman, Director; Aden Allen, Director; Sarah Doolittle, Director; Ron Levin, Secretary; Robby Roberts, Treasurer; Naren Chilukuri, Vice President

Steiner Ranch, with its resort-like amenities, breath-taking natural beauty and award-winning schools, offers families an opportunity to create a lifetime of memories that rival any of Normal Rockwell’s most famous paintings. Of course, I may be a little biased because it’s also the place my family and I call home.

A Time of Transition

At present, our idyllic community faces a critical transition. It’s growing up. No longer does it require hands-on governance from a developer-led homeowner association board. This spring, our HOA underwent a rite of passage that comes with maturing. In April, the Steiner Ranch Master Association elected an inaugural all-resident Master Association Board. The candidates, more than 20 of whom vied for seven seats, were put through a rigorous qualifying process.

When I first heard about the election, I knew I wanted to be part of this crucial turning point. With plenty of support and encouragement from my friends and neighbors, I enthusiastically threw my hat in the ring. I now have the honor and privilege of serving as an at-large board member and as its treasurer.

Making a Difference In the Lives of Others

Serving on the Steiner Ranch Master Association board allows me to share my extensive experience gained from chairmanship roles I’ve played in community organizations over the years. Although the groups had different missions, they had one thing in common: They made a difference in the lives of others.

I volunteered in the past because of a cause or mission that had a direct impact on the quality of life within a community. Whether it was an industrial foundation, a chamber of commerce, airport authority or municipal sales tax authority for economic development, these groups had the power to change lives for the better.

The same is true for Steiner Ranch, which has been my home for over a decade. I believe the community has the unique and critical opportunity to chart a course that will ultimately enhance the already amazing experience of living here.

Although growing up isn’t always easy, I know this community is strong and willing to weather any changes that may be needed in the future.

My Contribution to the Board

My background as a CPA and commercial banker, where I regularly interpret and complied with rules, principles, and regulations, will help me to ensure a fiscally responsible balance as the board moves forward. As elected leaders, we must achieve a balance between maintaining our operating needs and achieving our long-term goals.

That means ensuring access to the three community centers, which include two junior Olympic-sized pools, a resort pool, splash pool, splash pad and two baby pools. The community centers also include eight lighted tennis courts and four basketball courts. There’s also the Lake Club on Lake Austin with seven parks and four multi-purpose sports fields.

Ideas Welcomed

Obviously, it’s not my vision that will ultimately shape our community for years to come. I want to hear from my neighbors, their neighbors and so on.

As treasurer and board member, I will work to ensure that the quality of life for Steiner Ranch homeowners and their families is upheld and enhanced in this transition to a resident-led association. I look forward to listening to, and representing the interests of residents within the context of our governing documents.

My goal is to help Steiner Ranch continue its evolution as the premier master-planned community in Central Texas, providing the lifestyle and amenities that attracts thousands of families to choose Steiner Ranch as their home.

I look forward to serving my fellow Steiner Ranch residents. If you’re looking to move to the neighborhood, or just want to find out more about the Steiner Ranch lifestyle from someone invested in its success, I’d be happy to show you a great place to call home.
