Cedar Park Charm: Brushy Creek Sports Park

Brushy Creek Sports Park is a particularly great place to appreciate the beauty of nature while participating in a variety of sports activities. From baseball, softball, basketball and soccer to football fields, a disc golf course, and a skate park, there’s something fun here for everyone.

For small kids who want to partake in their own outdoor activities, the new and brightly colored playscape has spirals, twists and turns with which children create endless numbers of games and different ways to play. Shaded picnic tables under a newly constructed pavilion provide a shady place for parents to sit and watch as their children play.

An Awesome Skate Park for Adrenaline-Fueled Fun

Situated on 54 acres of lush green land, the Brushy Creek Sports Park is relatively new. Cedar Park’s first skatepark, Brushy Creek Skate Park, was opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in June of 2010. Along with a variety of sports fields, a nine-hole disc golf course, hike-and-bike trails and the colorful playscape, the skatepark attracts many area youth and even adults.

The custom-designed concrete “in-ground” skatepark is 15,000 square feet of unique figure-eight arrangements offering a vast array of street and transitional lines. With multiple rails and ledges, the mini bowl, and large bowl for more experienced and more daring skaters, the skate park provides the adrenaline-fueled rush skaters crave.

The splashes of colors and textures on the Street Course add the kind of artistic touches Austin is known for. SPA Skateparks and New Line Skateparks are the design/build team that crafted this challenging and beautiful skate park. “Mission accomplished!” skaters’ rave reviews declare. Open from 7AM to 10PM, all levels of skaters can find something to enjoy in this addition to Brushy Creek Sports Park.

Recreational Rules that Keep the Excitement Safe

The Brushy Creek Skate Park is an unsupervised area; skaters under 12 require adult supervision. Helmets are required (and highly recommended, but the policy may not always be strictly enforced). Due to the nature of the sport, wearing elbow and knee-pads while skateboarding or inline skating is also wise. No other type of skating is allowed in the Skate Park. Bicycles are not allowed and that policy is enforced for the safety of everyone.

If you want to take a break or just watch these skaters do their mind-blowing aerial acrobatics, there are a number of large boulders to serve as seating all around the area. The sensational seating areas and natural environment make skating a prime-time activity all day long at Cedar Park’s first skatepark. And as if all that weren’t enough, admission is free!
