Pure Water Everywhere – with Pressure Performance

---|---|---|
Pressure PerformanceThe main purpose of the Home Master whole house water filter is to deliver clean, clear water to every water faucet and shower head in your home without drawing down water pressure. Competitor’s systems use undersized housings with small ports and block filters, which restrict water flow and reduce performance so that shower pressure becomes weak and unpleasant. This Home Master HMF3SDGFEC Whole House system features massive filter housings with radial flow filters and 1-inch ports, which allow the strongest water pressure possible, with the least pressure loss — up to 15 gallons per minute. Larger, bottle-type filters don't achieve sediment filtration down to 1 micron nominal and are significantly more expensive. Home Master HMF3SDGFEC has the best balance of powerful filtration, high flow low pressure loss, annual maintenance and low total cost of ownership. |
Powerful Well Water Filtration - Iron, Manganese & Hydrogen SulfideHome Master combines 3 powerful filters to tackle challenging well water contamination. 4 separate layers of sediment filtration from 25-microns, to 10, to 5 to a 1-micron nominal inner core holds 3x the dirt, silt, rust particles of similar sized filters. The Radial flow Iron filter treats soluble Iron and manganese, not just the insoluble stuff the competition claims. It will remove up to 3ppms of "clear water" iron and manganese, and hydrogen sulfide combined, when used as directed. The Radial Flow Carbon filter will filter for herbicides, pesticides, and other chemicals found in well water. Submit your well water report (email, phone, chat) and we will ensure you get the right tool for the job. General System Specifications · pH >7 · Iron bacteria: Zero · Iron, manganese & Hydrogen sulfide combined: 3ppm max · Dimensions 25”h x 18”w x 9”d · Shipping weight 32 lbs. · Feed water: PSI 20 - 90 PSI · Feed water Temperature: 40˚ - 100˚(F) · Max. Total Dissolved Solids (TDS): 2000 ppm |
What doesn't it filter? This Home Master HMF3SDGFEC Whole House system removes up to 95 percent of silt, sediment, dirt, microplastics, herbicides, pesticides, other chemicals, Iron, manganese & Hydrogen sulfide (up to 3ppm combined max) and 1000s other contaminants, foul tastes and odors in potable well water supplies. Filter life will depend on contaminant load and volume used, but most families of four will change filters annually. Does not remove TDS or hardness. Minerals remain. Use a Home Master RO System to remove TDS, and a Home Master Softener to remove scale and hardness. If you have a private well on your land, Home Master recommends purchasing water treatment equipment only after reviewing a well water test report. Let Home Master help you get the right tool for the job. |
Clearly More Convenient

Small details, Big differencesNotice the mounting bracket. It's made from thick, heavy- gauge steel. Sure, it adds weight and expense, but it improves durability. It reduces flex and stress on the union joining the housings, so that it does not not crack or leak during filter changes or installation. Also, notice the holes on the bracket spaced exactly 16" apart, allowing for a direct connection to your 16" wall studs. In addition to improved flow rate, oversized radial-flow filters reduce maintenance frequency, which makes a big difference in saving you time, money, and convenience. |
The Importance of DirtFond childhood memories may include playing sports in dirt lots and squishing mud through your toes, but you don't want to consume it or cook it into your food. Insoluble metals, silt, biological remnants, microplastics - aka dirt. The competition uses a single layer 20- or 5-micron filter with limited capacity and limited performance for holding fine particles and microplastics, and typically requires 3-6 month filter changes. Home Master Multi-gradient density replaceable sediment filter produces finer filtration and greater dirt-holding capacity. Designed for purity with bacterial and chemical resistance, it has a 25-micron surface, 10-micron inner layer, 5-micron inner layer, and 1-micron nominal inner core for Triple the dirt holding capacity of similar sized cartridges. Typical life cycle is up to 12 months depending on usage and sediment quantity with initial < 1 psi pressure drop @ 20 gallons per minute. |

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of Whole House Water Filter do I need?
It depends on your water supply. If you are on a municipal city water supply, then the typical contaminants of concern are chlorine (or chloramines) and chemicals, sediment, and hardness minerals. The types of contaminants typically found in a private well water supply are sediment, iron, and hardness minerals, but can vary from nuisance contaminants to toxic or damaging.
The HMF3SDGFEC is for non-chlorinated well water only, with iron level up to a 3 ppm combined contaminant load. Do not use where iron bacteria is present in any amount, or with acidic water (pH <7.0)
If you have a private well on your land, Home Master recommends purchasing water treatment equipment only after reviewing a water report.
What flow rate should I look for?
Measured in gallons per minute (GPM), flow rate determines the amount of water available to run your shower, toilet, hot water heater, dishwasher, etc. When calculating your requirements look at the demand ratings printed on your appliances and toilet. Depending on the size of your house and family your water flow rate requirements may range from 15 to 40 GPM.

Here are some tips you should know when considering this filter system.
1. If you want to be happy with this system, have your water tested! Don't skip this step. There are several different cannisters for the HomeMaster and you will want to make sure you use the ones that will give you the desired/best results.
2. Consider a pre-sediment filter. In the picture, the small filter to the left of the HomeMaster is a sediment filter. If you have heavy sediment, it will help extend the life of your HomeMaster's sediment filter greatly. Here is the link to the one I am using (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018HFRYXA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
3. Install pressure gauges before and after the HomeMaster. This will tell you when you need to replace your filters. When it's time for mine to be replaced, the pressure gauge after the HomeMaster reads about 5 pounds of pressure less than the gauge before the HomeMaster.
4. Consider installing a filter bypass. This will allow you to keep the water on to your house while you are switching out filters. In the picture, I turn off the valves just below the pressure gauges and turn on the valves on the horizontal pipe just below the HomeMaster.
5. Spare filters: Keep an extra set of filters on hand. The frequency you have to replace the filters will depend on things like the amount of water you use daily and the level of contaminants in your water. Most people don't know how much they use so it's wise to have a spare set on hand until you get an idea of how long they will last. In my previous house, the filters lasted 9-11 months. In my current house it's 6-7 months. In my previous house, all the outside faucets bypassed the HomeMaster. In my current house, they do not.
6. Spare O-Rings: If I had any complaint about this system, it would be because of the O-Rings. I'd suggest keeping at least 3 spares on hand and here's why. For whatever reason the O-Rings do not retain their diameter after use. They get much bigger and will not stay in the little groove at the top of the housing they are meant to be in. Besides not retaining their diameter, they are not easy to keep in the little groove on top of the filter housing when you are trying to screw the housing back onto the system. It takes concentration and a steady hand when trying to put the housing back on. You cannot tell when the O-Ring comes out of the groove when tightening the housing. The only way to tell is to let the water flow into the system and hope there are no leaks. If it leaks, the majority of the time the O-Ring has come out of the groove. What I have found that helps is Vaseline. I will rub Vaseline along the O-Ring and it helps keep it in place. It also helps when tightening and loosening the housings.
7. Something to consider is the affect filters (all filters) have on your water pressure. They will decrease your pressure. In some cases, you can have your plumber examine your pump and pressure tank and make a determination if you can raise the water pressure through adjusting your pressure tank. There are instances where you don't have a pressure tank or pump and you may not have the option to increase your pressure. Another option (although costly) to get around the low pressure issue is to increase the water line diameter. This is what I did in my previous house. I upgraded my pump to a high output pump with a 1" output. I upgraded all the water lines to and from the HomeMaster to 1" and then laid 1" PVC as the main supply line under the house. The water lines feeding the sinks and toilets were all 1/2". This configuration was great. Everything in the house had great pressure and you could be in the shower and someone flush a toilet and the pressure or temperature wouldn't change.
8. Lastly, make sure your sediment filter is the first filter in your system. The order you put the filters in your system matters. Can't stress that enough. I am almost positive that the people who have complained about this system's performance either did not test their water first or they don't have the sediment filter first.
Hope this helps. This really is a very good filter system that is about as low maintenance as a filter can be.

A) Pour 2 cups of unscented concentrated bleach in each empty sump and close the system to hand tight and fit snug tight with the wrench. DO NOT over tighten. B) Drain your hot water heater. C) Open the main water supply to the system. D) Open a faucet at the furthest point from the system and run water until you smell the chlorine. Flush the toilet. Repeat at each point of use moving towards the filter system.
If you find that the rotten egg scent is only coming from the hot water then I recommend flushing the hot water heater and additionally reviewing the link below with regard to checking the integrity of the sacrificial anode within the heater. Often times by replacing the anode with an aluminum/zinc alloy anode this will resolve the issue of hydrogen sulfide accumulation as well.
We ended up having the plumber out to replace the anodes and flush the system. It worked, we also decided to purchase a different filter at the end: Kdf85 Catalytic Carbon GAC Filter - 20" x 4.5" We received and installed it in July 2016. We have high water use and are now needing to replace it again. We have changed our system around to not include outside water, we are thinking that is what wore it out so quickly, as we are in a new home and added a new lawn this fall that needed watered a lot as we were in a drought.
So far I am loving this system. It works well and the water that comes out is clean, smell free and fresh tasting. I would highly recommend this system. Also if you are on a well, have a well report done and send it to them to have them help you customize your system. I wish I would have done that initially, they are very helpful and knowledgeable about their products. They also will be able to tell you which system will work for your needs. Very impressed with their customer service and they even called me to follow up later to see how the system was working for us. I love a company that stands behind its product and makes sure their customers are happy as well!
If you are having any second thoughts don't hesitate to contact them and they can answer any questions you may have!
