Round Rock Express Win Fans Over

Is it the feeling of community and team spirit? Is it the hot dogs and crackerjacks? Maybe it’s the relaxing rhythm of player introductions and fast pitches interrupted by the sharp crack of a solid hit?

Perhaps it’s a little something different for everyone. Whatever it is that makes a baseball game one of our most universally-loved pastimes, it works exceptionally well at Round Rock’s Dell Diamond, home to the Round Rock Express.

Families and friends start trickling in as the sun lowers on the horizon. Music pumps as players warm up their arms and stretch their legs. Meanwhile, before settling into their seats, fans gather some drinks and snacks.

There is a lot to choose from, whether you’re looking for snacks, dinner or a cold beer.

Dell Diamond recently introduced some Austin-area favorites to its concessions — bringing a lot of extra flare, in addition to baseball traditions like hot dogs, peanuts and beer.

Jack Allen’s Kitchen, for example, is an Oak Hill neighborhood favorite that draws patrons from throughout central Texas. Now, a limited menu of their delicious eats are available at the Intel Lounge, an exclusive area in the Dell Diamond.

The stadium also recently introduced a craft beer garden, Brew At The Rock, which offers 16 rotating craft beers.

See the Pros Before the Big Leagues

Since their debut in Round Rock in 2000, the Round Rock Express have won fans over from throughout Central Texas. The team, owned by Major League Baseball legend Nolan Ryan and Houston businessman Don Sanders, is a Triple-A team affiliated with the Texas Rangers.

Dozens of players on the Express roster move on to play in the big leagues. And that competition to make it into the Major League helps generate some great baseball.

Families often seem to get the most out of experience. Kids participate in races and games on the field before games and during the 7th inning stretch. Spike, the team’s canine-themed mascot, goofs off with kids throughout the stadium. Meanwhile, many companies have family picnics in the outfield pool and spa area, where kids can splash around.

After most Friday night games, the team’s management shoots professional fireworks to cap off a beautiful evening of baseball.
