Proud History
Established in 1899 as the Austin Golf Club, the Austin Country Club was among the first of its kind to be organized in the state of Texas. Its founder, Lewis Hancock, served as city mayor at age 40 and was one of Austin’s most dignified citizens at the turn of the century. The club’s initial members included some of Austin’s toniest and most distinguished families, who enjoyed socializing amongst their fellow elite, and tackling the original 9-hole golf course.
The Austin Country Club has since relocated from its original grounds, and now nestles on the shores of Lake Austin near the Capital of Texas Highway in the north end of West Lake Hills. The club offers membership by invitation at multiple levels, including Golf, Tennis and Social.

The crown jewel of the Austin Country Club is its 18-hole golf course, which spans across 180 rolling green acres. For tennis players, the Austin Country Club offers a first-rate 10-court lighted facility with programs for men, women, and youths of all skill levels. Open to members seven days a week, the club’s fitness center features state-of-the-art equipment as well as certified professional trainers and a variety of seasonal fitness classes. To cool off after a long workout or to master your backstroke, the 50-meter pool also offers relaxing fun for the whole family in the summer. The pool is heated so that dedicated swimmers can comfortably maintain their swimming regimen even in winter.

Members also appreciate the club’s close proximity to Lake Austin, perfect for water sports and fun in the sun. The club maintains a marina with 57 boat slips for private lease. For members who prefer to avoid the well-known headaches associated with boat ownership but crave frequent skiing, fishing, or jaunts on the water for other recreation, the club’s ACC Boat Club membership option is the answer.
The Boat Club offers members year-round access to the largest, finest fleet of watercraft on Lake Austin and Lake Travis. The club takes care of all the details so that members can quickly and easily get out on the water. All it takes is a reservation for the boat you choose, and the club does the rest.
