Dining in Lakeway — From Exquisite to Casual Favorites
Lakeway offers local diners a wealth of both casual and fine dining with more than 30 local restaurants and new places opening all the time. From relatively recent openings such as Fore and Sobani, to established local favorites like Flores Mexican Restaurant, Pao’s Mandarin House, or Sandy’s Hamburger Hut, diners can almost always find just what they’re hungry for.
One favorite, Rocco’s Italian Grill, is a local family owned and operated restaurant that has been serving Lakeway residents for over a decade. Seasoned diners suggest appetizers such as the fried oysters with basil lemon butter or the ravioli fritto. The spicy pecan salad made with fresh apples, spicy pecans and gorgonzola is a refreshing treat. Pasta lovers enjoy the Pasta Rocco served with grilled chicken, or shrimp alfredo with peas and mushrooms. The bella ravioli always gets great reviews — ravioli stuffed with lobster and ricotta in a rose cream sauce. Conveniently, each dish on the menu has a suggested wine pairing. For dessert, there’s the mouth-watering triple chocolate brownie made with Ghirardelli chocolate with chocolate ice cream and chocolate sauce. If diners still have any appetite after a stupendous dinner, it is a decadent way to finish the meal.
New, Refreshing Interior Mexican Cuisine
A relative newcomer, Santa Catarina Restaurant has already garnered a legion of devoted diners around Lakeway and beyond. Pairing a fresh, fine dining experience to traditional interior Mexican food, the menu presents imaginative dishes prepared with freshest ingredients. The menu also offers a variety of gluten free and vegetarian items. Meat dishes are primarily prepared with farm-raised beef and healthy hormone free protein sources whenever available.
Among the most talked about and popular dishes is the cochinita pibil (seasoned pork steamed in a banana leaf), and huitlacochethe, a savory roasted corn soup. Naturally, all of the tortillas Santa Catarina serves are fresh, handmade, steaming hot, delicate, and delicious. Their bar uses only fresh juices and the best mixers, so missing happy hour is a tragedy.
