For many, the month of August represents the last chance to savor the fun and relaxation the summer season offers. With the school year fast approaching, now is the time to get outside and make some memories.
Fortunately, the Summit and New Providence communities abound with enticing activities that give summer a proper send-off. From National Night Out to an array of cultural events, there’s no reason to stay indoors this month!

August 1
National Night Out, also known as Summit’s “Biggest Night Out,” offers an evening of entertainment for the whole family. Food trucks open at 6 p.m. The Chris Clark Bicycle Stunt Show kicks off at 6:15 p.m. and The Kicks take the concert stage at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

New Providence hosts its National Night Out, sponsored by New Providence PBA Local 132. Skip dinner and sample free hot dogs from The Prestige Diner followed by free ice cream from Zita’s Homemade Ice Cream.

Enjoy a family-friendly flick under the stars as Summit continues its Screen on the Green Movie Series and presents Boss Baby. The Family Dance Party begins at 7:30PM and the movie starts at dark. The Pizza Vita food truck will be at the Village Green

New Providence Community Pool hosts its annual Senior Citizen Luncheon. This year, entertainment will be provided by students at The Wharton Institute for the Performing Arts. The event is free and open to New Providence senior citizens, regardless of pool membership.
