Austin Lifestyle February 2016: Super Bowl Bashes, Marathons and Carnaval

February tends to be one of Austin’s slowest months for events as the city gears up for the massive SXSW festivals in March. But there’s still plenty to do in town.

The first weekend of the month is all about football. The Super Bowl is typically the most watched event of the year worldwide, and, for most of us, it has all the elements of a holiday – a break from work, delicious snacks, friends, family and fun. After that, many people will be shifting gears and thinking about how to show their sweethearts just how special they are on Valentine’s Day.

For the most fit amongst us, there’s the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon, which have grown through the years and are now among the most well-known running events in the country. And, presuming there’s good weather, you can enjoy it from the sidelines by pulling up a lawn chair on South Congress Avenue.

Now, let’s take a look at all the top events in Austin this month.
