Rosedale residents find themselves perfectly positioned to enjoy all that Austin has to offer. From Rosedale’s central location, residents are close to almost everything in the city.
Nearby Burnet Road has a tremendous amount of local stores, resale boutiques, restaurants, and even a live music venue or two. And just a few minutes east of the neighborhood, Lamar Boulevard has plenty more to offer.
Central Market has a convenient location right off Lamar, along with dozens of retail shops nearby like Gap, Origins, Clarksville Pottery and Zinger Hardware. After shopping, Rosedale residents can take the hike-and-bike trail over to the picnic areas and ponds. Many shoppers in the area enjoy a day spent at Central Park before they swing by Central Market to grab a snack and listen to some live music on the patio. HEB also has a location on the southwest corner of Koenig and Burnet for routine grocery runs.
Seven major shopping malls — The Arboretum at Great Hills, Gateway Shopping Center, The Domain, Shops at Arbor Walk, Barton Creek Square Mall, Sunset Valley Market Fair, and the Village at Westlake — are within 15 minutes of Rosedale. Together, these popular retail centers include about 500 stores and restaurants.
The Perfect Cup of Coffee, and Wonderful Burgers and Treats
No one in Rosedale need go more than a few minutes to venture far with so many wonderful possibilities nearby in the neighborhood. Thunderbird coffee hosts local artists to accompany a late night espresso with handmade paninis and several breakfast options.
Locals recommend calling ahead to the Omelettry because this area favorite fills up quickly on the weekends. Their savory omelets cater to both traditional and less traditional diners with standards like ham and cheese three-egg omelets to more adventurous concoctions like broccoli and sour cream.
Austin’s own Amy’s Ice Cream is connected to a Phil’s Ice House on Burnet Road near Koenig Lane, a quick bike ride or leisurely stroll from the neighborhood. Phil’s Ice House serves a selection of some of the best hamburgers, French fries and onion rings in this part of town. And Amy’s has become one of Austin’s most beloved homegrown ice creameries, making all of their ice cream in-house and offering a staggering array of delicious mix-ins. The combo will keep customers coming back for years.
The Restaurants Keep On Coming
Other restaurants in the area include a number of Austin-famed and popular eateries. Fonda San Miguel is Austin’s pioneer of authentic interior Mexican Food and one of the town’s favorite places for Sunday brunch. Uchiko is also a local favorite. The second restaurant opened by chef Tyson Cole and pastry chef Philiip Speer, who opened Austin’s award-winning Uchi, Uchiko offers some of the popular dishes from Uchi, but concentrates more on cooked food, small plates, and what the owners describe as Japanese farmhouse dining. The Apothecary Café and Wine Bar is a cozy cafe and wine bar. The menu features refreshing salads, homemade soup, paninis, artisanal cheeses and charcuterie, and an eclectic selection of excellent wines. They offer live music several nights a week.
And these are just a few examples of what is within a minute or two of Rosedale.
