Georgetown Real Estate: A Charming Place to Call Home

In 2013, the United States Census Bureau named Georgetown-Williamson County as the fastest growing area in the country, continuing a decade of prime real estate opportunities for people looking to buy a home in one of the most historic and charming communities in Central Texas. Situated north of Austin, the drive downtown is about 30 minutes, and it takes about 40 minutes to reach the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Choices, History and Quality of Life

Area residents demonstrate their affection for the community’s heritage in the restored Victorian architecture of its commercial buildings and homes. Georgetown became Texas’ first ‘National Main Street’ city in 1997.

Picturesque tree-shaded streets frame attractive homes painted in historic hues, many accented with bright, red poppies in homeowners’  front yards. The poppy tradition has earned Georgetown the title of the “Red Poppy Capital of Texas” as certified by the Texas Legislature.

Affordably priced, single-family real estate listings for sale start in the mid $100,000s. People interested in buying a home in Georgetown can choose from new construction floor plans, as well as historic Victorian homes, custom-built luxury estates and ranch properties on multiple acres of prime real estate.

Enjoy the Lifestyle Consistently Ranked Among Texas’ Finest

Georgetown gets high national marks for being an exceptionally safe and friendly community. Equally important to local residents are strong families and great educational opportunities. The school system consistently ranks among Texas’ finest.

In 1997, Sun City Texas, a nationally recognized retirement community, was constructed just west of the city. With three golf courses and world-class community amenities, Sun City Texas provides an active, safe, and highly social residential community for residents.

The historic downtown area is filled with over 50 one-of-a-kind boutiques, restaurants and collectible shops displayed in the restored and preserved grandeur of romantic Victorian Era buildings built from hewn limestone with pressed metal facades and walkway canopies. The 1920s Palace Theater is the only Art Deco building facade in the city and provides a quaint and nostalgic setting for the local troupe’s plays and musicals.

Georgetown’s Beautiful Historic Parks Boast Modern Features

The banks at the fork of the San Gabriel River provide a lovely natural setting for playing fields and a hike-and-bike trail that runs through the expansive and historic San Gabriel Park. The trail even connects beyond the park. Segments connect to Blue Hole Park, Rivery Park, and all the way to Lake Georgetown.

In 2012, San Gabriel Park became one of only nine parks that had been designated as a Lone Star Legacy Park by the Texas Recreation & Parks Society. Parks that earn the designation are chosen for their historical prominence within their community and the state for providing natural respite and social opportunities throughout a community’s history from its founding through the prosperous present.

San Gabriel Park is shaded by 200 year-old-oak trees and boasts a number of youth baseball fields, soccer fields, softball fields, pavilions and other amenities. It also provides space for concerts and festivals.

With countless acres of prime real estate dedicated to more than 30 park sites, as well as community centers, swimming pools, play courts and playscape activities, local residents value community green spaces. Some of the park system’s unique offerings include a skate park, roller hockey rink, disk golf course, and pits for playing horseshoes and washers. Lake Georgetown and Blue Hole Park provide local water recreation opportunities and the area also enjoys several local golf courses.

There’s always plenty to do here for people who love to stay active, but Georgetown offers so much more.“Georgetown is an historic city in the heart of Central Texas and has many amenities that larger cities enjoy,” says long-time resident and professional photographer Rudy Ximenez. “This area’s strength is its sense of community and its educational system, which is among the very best in Texas. Those qualities make this city a perfect place for raising families.”
