Lake Pointe Real Estate: Life is Good on the Hillsides of Lake Austin

Weekends are made for neighborhood gatherings in Lake Pointe, a quaint and friendly community nestled on the hillsides of Lake Austin. On any given afternoon, family and friends get together in backyards or cul-de-sac driveways to grill and enjoy mouthwatering barbecue, play a friendly game of basketball, or welcome each other home from activities at the private clubhouse or the junior Olympic pool.

“We moved here for the excellent sense of community,” says RaNee Steed, who has lived in Lake Pointe for six years with her husband Jason and family. “We were spending more time in Lake Pointe with our friends than our own neighborhood, so we made the move.” RaNee is a second grade teacher at Lake Pointe Elementary, awarded an “Exemplary” rating by the Texas Education Agency, and Jason works from home for a private enterprise. “Everyone gets along and we are all on the same playing field, including some retired professional athletes who live here.”

Weekend excitement revolves around outdoor fun on Lake Austin, water skiing and wakeboarding with the entire family. Lake Travis, an even larger lake nearly 64 miles long, and Lady Bird Lake are within a 15-20 minute drive for residents of Lake Pointe for even more watersport activities.

Convenient Access to Austin’s Best Shopping, Dining and Entertainment

Lake Pointe is conveniently situated 20 minutes northwest of downtown Austin and only 30 minutes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, in the charming town of Bee Cave just outside Austin city limits. Featuring a small-town lifestyle, many of the residents work from home or in the community during the week, and those who make the short commute into the city for work enjoy coming home to Lake Pointe’s laid back attitude and serene tree-lined streets.

In addition to the lake for recreation, residents have nearby access to the legendary Barton Creek Resort and Spa, home to several world-class golf courses and club tennis, all within a 5-10 minute drive. The town of Bee Cave offers top-notch entertainment and a wide assortment of dining options, from the neighborhood favorite Mandola’s Italian Market to the authentic Irish cuisine at The Emerald. Residents can plug into the famous Austin music scene at The Backyard outdoor venue or at Chisos Grill, where local musicians play every week. The Hill Country Galleria regional shopping mall is also nearby.

A Luxury Oasis in the Beautiful Hill Country

Originally established in 1995, Lake Pointe comprises seven fully built-out neighborhoods, including The Pointe, an exclusive gated community on the shore of Lake Austin. The sprawling neighborhood features a variety of home sizes and styles, from affordable 3-bedroom homes to spacious custom estates of up to 6,000 square feet with a distinctive mix of architectural detail and high-end building materials. Dramatic hill country vistas and scenic lake views are common in this luxury oasis amidst the beautiful yet rugged hill country.

A strong and active homeowners association keeps the community pool, tennis and basketball courts, play parks, two fishing ponds, lake dock and hiking trails in excellent condition. With its combination of beautiful homes and abundant towering trees, as well as its clean white sidewalks and freshly paved streets, Lake Pointe sparkles with beauty and exudes a pleasing personality that makes residents want to live here for life.

Exemplary Schools and a Strong Sense of Community

Living in a Texas Education Agency-rated “Exemplary” school district with a five-years-in-a-row state champion football team is a draw for many families. In addition to great schools, situated immediately north of the Lake Travis High School campus is the Lakeway Regional Medical Center, a dynamic new facility with 106 beds that offers emergency resources and provides full-service, technologically advanced care.

“Lake Pointe has such a strong sense of community, and you can’t get that anywhere else,” says Joey Terraza, who originally moved to Lake Pointe with his wife Amy over 13 years ago. “People look after and take care of each other here.”

Terraza likes Lake Pointe so much, he and his wife moved just a few blocks from their first home here into a larger home better suited to their growing family of five. Together, they enjoy walking the neighborhood trails, as well as fishing and going down to the lake to play on the rope swing at the day dock. A national sales manager with Advent Financial, Terraza works from home and appreciates the close proximity to downtown Austin and the airport for meetings and frequent travel.

“The parks, the trails, and the lake, it’s everything you’d want in a community,” says Terraza. “It’s well manicured and maintained and we’re proud to live here!”
