Among the area’s most treasured outdoor recreation areas is nearby Lake Granger. Located in the gently rolling hills of the Texas Blackland Prairie, Lake Granger offers a beautiful, placid 4,400-acre lake with extensive amenities for boating, fishing, hiking and camping.

Another cornerstone of Taylor’s strong foundation is the prestigious Taylor Independent School District, which has earned many awards from the Texas Education Agency. Referred to as a “gem” for its steady scholastic achievements, the TISD has won six Gold Performance Standard awards from the State of Texas (in 2011 alone) for outstanding academic performance.

Several TISD schools offer unique educational opportunities. For example, the community’s brand new high school offers an open 207,000-square-foot collegiate-style campus with state-of-the-art facilities. Plus, each high school student receives a free MacBook as part of their enrollment.
