The Good Luck Grill specializes in serving tasty classic American fare and extra flavorful comfort food. After opening in 2007, this locally owned family restaurant became a community favorite almost overnight. With a menu featuring something to please just about any palate and special events held throughout the year, locals and not-so-locals gather at the Good Luck Grill for great food and good times.
The restaurant sits on a ten-acre pasture that offers plenty of space for the many special events the Good Luck Grill stages for the community. Locals know better than to miss out on a Good Luck Grill event – they’ve become a tradition in Manor. With a loyal customer following from Manor to Taylor and from nearby Pflugerville to Elgin, this is more than a restaurant. The Good Luck Grill is a special place to get together with friends, family, and colleagues.
According to the Good Luck Grill, the whole idea behind comfort food is “to nourish the body and the spirit — to soothe and bring cheer. Our food is created with that in mind.” The philosophy here is to provide fresh home-made comfort food and to treat the guests like family. The warm and inviting atmosphere adds to customers’ enjoyment of themany different dishes on the menu.
Healthy Eating Made Easy
Loyal diners will tell you that the Good Luck Grill makes the best burgers, catfish and chicken-fried chicken and steak in Texas. But the good food doesn’t stop there. The extensive menu has plenty of offerings, including sections for health-conscious patrons.
The Low Calorie section of the menu makes healthy eating easy. Try the Gut Burger, a bunless version of any of their burgers with a double portion of salad. Frequent diners also love the spinach salad with grilled chicken, toasted sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, blue cheese and sesame garlic dressing. The Good Luck Grill also has a section of the menu devoted to gluten free and vegetarian dishes.
Extra Tasty Old Time Favorites
The folks in the kitchen know their way around a fryer. For instance, appetizers include irresistible items like fried green tomatoes, fried pickles, onion rings, fried zucchini, and fried mushrooms. And if you can’t decide which sounds best, thank goodness for the veggie sampler so you can get a little of each! If you come during Happy Hour, you can indulge in all the appetizer goodness you want for half price!
A couple of old-fashioned favorites include chicken-fried steak and chicken-fried chicken. The chef starts with fresh beef or chicken, then hand-breads and cooks it to order. The chicken fry is topped with a luscious, flavorful creamy gravy and is served with a side salad, Texas toast, and your choice of fries or mashed potatoes.
Though well known for their excellent fried foods, the flat-grilled strip steak, chicken, zucchini and portobello mushrooms are also delicious.
A Wide Variety of Great Sandwiches and Jackpot Pie
The Good Luck Grill also makes a wide variety of great sandwiches. Choose a shrimp, catfish or oyster po’ boy, a grilled ham and cheese, a classic BLT, or a pulled pork sandwich with confidence that each one will be incredibly tasty. The pulled pork sandwich is filled with a mound of pulled pork grilled with tangy BBQ sauce and topped with fresh, crisp coleslaw on a corn-dusted bun.
The restaurant offers a daily special each day of the week. But one special is served at lunch every day. The Lucky Club, a delicious smoked ham sandwich with four slices of bacon on Texas Toast with mayo, romaine lettuce, tomato and American cheese, is sure to satisfy.
If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you have to try the Jackpot Pie. Just one bite of this chocolate layer cake with a crunchy, creamy pecan cookie crust, topped with sweet cream cheese, chocolate pudding and whipped cream will send you over the moon.
Let’s Have a Party!
The country landscape makes for a great family get together or a special event. Good Luck Catering will cater on-site and within a 20-mile radius including Austin, Manor, Elgin, Pflugerville, Round Rock and Taylor. On-site events include Songwriter Saturday held on the outdoor patio, and Family Movie Night featuring outdoor movies when the weather permits. And then there’s Geocaching.
Geocaching invites anyone who wants to play to bring a GPS and a knick-knack as an entry fee. As the game begins, you receive target coordinates and a numbered flag. Using only your GPS and your instincts, you stick your numbered flag into the ground where you think the target spot is. The closest person to the target chooses from the entry fee knick-knacks first, and then everyone else in descending order according to how far from the target they placed their flag. Everyone wins!
Other activities include live music during the week, washer tournaments, Manor Market Days, fundraisers and more. The sounds of local bands playing old time rock and roll, rockabilly, country and blues is a great way to end or begin a meal. The Good Luck Grill is very active in Manor community life, supporting the local high school sports teams, fundraising and getting involved in whatever they can to support their Manor neighbors. Community is central to everything they do. And it shows!
Host your next party at the Good Luck Grill or let their sister company, Catering by Good Luck, bring the food to you. Excelling at catering for groups from 10-600 guests is quite a task but the GLG folks enjoy what they do. With a large selection of choices, you decide what you want your menu to be and they will work with you to make it happen with delicious, affordable, fast and friendly service. Ironically, there’s no luck involved. You will be happy with the results and so will your guests. Enjoy!
