Hay’s County YMCA…Boy has it changed!

I recently recommitted myself to taking better care of my body. That meant getting back to the gym…sigh…and changing my diet…long sigh.

After 3 weeks on the program I’m happy to report it hasn’t been as bad as I expected. The reason it’s going so well is in no small part due to the local Hays County YMCA. In case you haven’t been there it’s right up FM1626 next to Dahlstrom Middle School about 12 minutes or so from Plum Creek. Turn right at the Buda Sportsplex and you’re there.

I belonged years ago when they first opened but didn’t keep it up. Coming back after several years was a huge surprise. They’ve expanded everything! They still have a weight room and machines but some of them have televisions now which was a huge surprise and they are offering a ton of classes including classes like; yoga, Zumba, cardio Funk and cycling, but it doesn’t end there. They also have an indoor and outdoor pool, classes on health and diet and an indoor basketball court.

You don’t have to take my word for it, check it out for yourself. I bet you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Besides all of the class offerings the essential part for me is its convenience. It’s open 7 days a week, 5am to 10pm weekdays giving you time to work out before or after work. There’s also childcare. I saw a slew of happy kids for those of you that need to have help with the kids while you work out. Anyway I’m excited to have such a nice facility close by and I plan to take advantage of it to get in shape.  Who knows, maybe I’ll see you there!
