March 2018 in Austin: A Kite Festival, SXSW and Texas Relays

As February’s chillier weather moves out, we’re primed for some of that March sunshine and a little precipitation to get those spring gardens started.

Austin’s biggest event this month — and typically of the year — is South By Southwest, where tens of thousands of visitors embark on the city to checkout interactive media sessions, concerts and view new films — along with a little celebrity spotting.

But there’s plenty more. Check out the Austin Rodeo with barrel racing, bull riding, city’s largest carnival, stock show and live music. Be sure to have your kite ready for competition at the start of the month on March 4 at Zilker Park for the ABC Kite Festival.

And, one more little reminder — it’s time to ‘spring forward’ with daylight savings on March 11.

Have a wonderful start to spring, and check out the Texas wildflowers and some of the fun events this month with friends and family.
