With spring in full swing, Summit and New Providence residents have ample opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy a fair, a free market, a Mother’s Day 5K, and more. Meanwhile, the New Providence library hosts a seminar aimed at helping high school students select the perfect college.

Our Lady of Peace Country Fair has been an annual tradition for the past 40 years. The family-friendly event offers something for all ages: food, rides, raffles, and a beer garden.

Summit Free Market is a non-profit, student-run, City of Summit organization with the aim of reducing the city’s negative environmental impact through saving yard sale-quality, reusable household items and appliances from the incinerator.

For the third consecutive year, Home for Good Dog Rescue’s “Bow Wow” Brunch returns to The Grand Summit Hotel for a delicious outing where guests can mingle with the “who’s who” of New Jersey. Enjoy the chance to win an array of prize baskets, all in support of our vision for the Almost Home Wellness Center.

There are over 2,000 4-year colleges in the US. How do you find the right one? This seminar teaches attendees how to be savvy shoppers.  We’ll share ways to figure out how to recognize what colleges might be good fits and how to evaluate criteria like size, location and majors.  They’ll even discuss how to visit colleges, which can be a stressful experience. Collegewise, a national consulting company, will conduct this seminar.

On May 13, the Summit Area YMCA will host the 17th Annual Mother’s Day 5K Run/Walk at Memorial Field, in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. All age groups (6+) are invited to participate in this event where proceeds from the chip-timed, USATF-sanctioned Grand Prix race benefit LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA.  LIVESTRONG® is a free, small group, 12-week cancer survivor and recovery program.

Meet the Mayor is an opportunity for residents to chat with Mayor Nora Radest, no appointment necessary. Mayor Radest hosts Meet the Mayor events once a month, on the weekend, at various locations around Summit. The current 2018 schedule can be found on the City of Summit website.
