It’s been about a year since I moved into Granada Hills, although I’ve worked in and admired the neighborhood for more than a decade.

My new home is even better than I expected. Anyone who lives here or has visited probably knows what I mean.

Granada Hills is an enticing area. We have a true neighborhood, uninterrupted by commercial development, which is a real bonus for young families and retirees. But we’re also only a few minutes from some marquee Austin restaurants, such as Jack Allen’s Kitchen and Hecho in Mexico. Plus, Whole Foods, HEB and a ton of cute shops are all reachable within minutes and without much traffic.

I Love the Proximity, Lifestyle and Affordability

I’ve explored most of Austin’s neighborhoods in my 30 years working in real estate. Few compare to Granada Hills when it comes to proximity, lifestyle and affordability. I remember when people thought this was too far out from downtown Austin. Now, it’s a steal for its proximity — you can be parked in the heart of downtown in 12-20 minutes, depending on traffic.

And I’m in awe with how quickly neighbors warm up to each other. Like many of my neighbors, I love to garden. It’s kind of the best of both worlds in that we have plant specific species that all of the deer in the area won’t munch on. It may look urban on the map, but, shhh, the wildlife doesn’t know yet.

My son and real estate partner, Justin, and I essentially share a labrador retriever. And it’s a blessing because so many people in the neighborhood are happy to stop and chat, pet each other’s dogs and enjoy the bliss of quiet, sunny mornings. It’s country living in the city.

I’m proud to live in such a beautiful area, knowing that Granada Hills is a sought-after neighborhood and one that has the excellent schools, nearby entertainment and quiet living that make a big batch of houses something more — a community. That’s why I moved here. And I’m so glad I did.
