After an evening of shopping, Escondera condo owners enjoy any of a number of Sunset Valley restaurants, including Mama Fu’s Asian House, B.J.’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, and Noodles & Company.

Milano Café, less than five minutes from home, is tucked away in an unassuming little shopping center and is a popular choice among locals for its reasonably priced Italian food — and its BYO beer and wine policy. Chicken and veal piccatta are popular entrees, while other diners prefer one of the ravioli or other pasta dishes on the specials menu.
The authentic Cajun food at the Cypress Grill brings in the diners from Escondera. The Cypress Grill also offers live jazz, signature cocktails, and a variety of craft beers. In addition to etouffée, gumbo, and other classics, the mouth-watering specialty Shrimp En Brochette features fresh Gulf shrimp skewered and wrapped in bacon, served over dirty rice and topped with sautéed jalapeños in a decadent lime butter sauce.
Escondera residents also enjoy some of the best sushi and Japanese food in Austin at Izumi Japanese Restaurant, a little less than15 minutes away. In addition to an extensive sashimi menu, the restaurant offers about 30 traditional sushi rolls and 30 delicious specialty sushi rolls. Among the specialty rolls, locals recommend the Westlake Sushi Roll — made with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, kanikama, and asparagus wrapped in cucumber with ponzu sauce. Also popular is the Volcano Roll, a California roll baked with kanikama, scallops, onions, mushrooms, and masago on top. Popular dinner options are yakisoba, tempura, and katsu — panko-crusted pork, snapper, or chicken with Japanese barbecue sauce. At lunch, there are a number of bento boxes to choose from.
