Retail Roundup: Milwood Area Shopping, Dining and Entertainment

A Chance to Grow Your Own Garden, and Other Great Food Options

There is plenty of shopping near the Millwood neighborhood. For groceries, locals frequent the HEB grocery located just a couple of minutes away. As a bonus, many area homeowners grow their own fruits and vegetables in the neighborhood soil at the Adelphi Acre Community Gardens.

When they’re not preparing their favorite home-cooked meals, Milwood foodies enjoy the close proximity of several popular restaurants, including the Silver Grill Café (for BBQ Texas style) which also offers a pleasant outdoor dining area. The area also boasts Pita House, the home of “melt in your mouth” gyros, and Tomodachi Sushi, which serves quality sushi and a great assortment of delectable Japanese food.

Shopping, Shopping and More Shopping (and Dining)

For an extensive shopping spree, a few of Austin’s finest shopping areas are just minutes away. The Domain, just 4 miles east, features more than 100 high-end retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co. A break from shopping for lunch or dinner offers several savory selections including Maggiano’s Little Italy, McCormick & Schmicks, NoRTH, and the Daily Grill, to name a few.

Just a few minutes further away, shoppers can also visit Lakeline Mall, which features more than 150 stores, including Dillard’s and Macy’s, along with several headliners in teen and young adult fashion. There’s also a Regal Theater for an afternoon matinee getaway. Restaurants include Applebee’s, Chili’s, Frullati Café, Little Tokyo, Los Canarios Fine Mexican Cuisine, Phil’s Philly Grill and Simon’s Sushi, among others.

Another favorite area for shopping and dining is the Arboretum at Great Hills, a short 5-minute drive from the heart of Milwood. This open-air mall features more than 40 specialty shops and restaurants, as well as a park, water feature and picnic area. Spend a morning being pampered at AZIZ Salon and Day Spa, check out the latest seasonal styles at Chico’s, find that new best-seller at Barnes and Noble and then get together with friends over French onion soup, creamy spinach, Swiss Pochette and a bag of fresh baguettes at La Madeleine. Or maybe a roasted veggie panini and a signature chopped salad from the Brio Tuscan Grille.

A few other popular restaurants here include PF Chang’s China Bistro, and The Roaring Fork, with its modern fresh southwestern flavors. Local Milwood homeowners frequent perennial favorite Chuy’s for Tex-Mex fare; or, for truly decadent dishes, they enjoy a meal at Cheesecake Factory.
