You don’t have to wander far to hear someone grumble about the high cost of living in Austin. There’s no doubt, it has gotten expensive — prohibitively expensive for many hard working families.
That’s a big part of the reason why more than half of the record-breaking Austin area home sales are happening outside city limits where homes are more affordable and the schools, in most cases, get higher rankings. Perhaps the best — and certainly my favorite — of those outlying areas is Round Rock.
Personally, I love living in Round Rock! We have what people want: beautiful neighborhoods, active lifestyles and more than our share of natural features, parks and trails. And I think it’s fair to add the fish tacos and crawfish etouffee from the Louisiana Longhorn to the list of reasons to live here.
The Choice is Obvious – The Value is Unbeatable!
Sophisticated and historic, Round Rock consistently gets high marks for its excellent schools, quaint neighborhoods and brisk commutes to major employers, such as Dell. Many of my clients, particularly those with growing families, decided to relocate here because they can get so much more house for their money.
It’s undeniable. Where else will $250,000 buy a recently built 2,300 square foot home just outside the city limits and in a great school district?
That’s an easy decision for most families. And it’s one of the reasons the real estate market in our area is so hot, particularly the neighborhoods along Old Settlers Boulevard, Sam Bass Road just north of the lovely Brushy Creek trail where my husband loves to ride his bicycle.
Everyone Agrees, Round Rock is an Awesome Place to Live!
The almost entirely residential area west of I-35 is like one large neighborhood made out of many, including Woodglen, Hidden Glen, Bent Tree, The Plantation, Behren’s Ranch, Walsh Ranch and Sendero Springs.
A recent analysis I spotted in the blog Rentonomics ranked Texas cities based on which ones were the safest, most affordable and family-friendly. Round Rock landed in the top 10.
“…Round Rock has quickly grown to become Austin’s fastest growing and most prosperous suburb. The city invests heavily in its public education and the Round Rock Independent School District is ranked among the top in the state,” the Rentonomics writer explained.
When the Movoto Real Estate Blog ranked American suburbs, Round Rock came in #4, based on its cost of living, education and amenities.
Peace of Mind and a Sense of Community
I moved to Round Rock from North Austin about a decade ago for many of the same reasons so many new home buyers choose to live here. I love the quiet lifestyle, well-kept neighborhoods and knowing my grandchildren have access to the best education possible.
It gives my family peace of mind, a sense of community and the knowledge that we made a great investment in one of the best places in the country. What’s not to love?
