It’s not too late to check off a few more activities on your summer bucket list. Fall doesn’t start until Sept. 22nd. So there’s plenty of time to jump into a cool, natural spring; test your endurance in a late summer triathlon; or let a cold, locally-brewed beer wash the day away.
Here are some of the best events around Austin in September.
Sept. 1: The Tri-Rock Austin Triathlon kicks off with athletes diving into Lady Bird Lake near the Stevie Ray Vaughn statue.

Sept. 1: Yoga studios throughout the Austin area open their doors for free classes aimed at finding new clients and introducing people to the restorative powers of yoga. There are classes for all fitness and experience levels.

Sept. 12: The Fit Foodie Race in Austin, sponsored by Cooking Light & Health magazines, includes a 5k run, celebrity chefs, a fitness bootcamp, yoga and other demonstrations. Ticket prices vary, depending on the event. The whole weekend, all-inclusive ticket is $120.
When: Sept. 12-14, starting with a Friday night cocktail party. The race is at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Sept. 18-25: If horror, fantasy and sci-fi movies and games are your thing, you shouldn’t miss Fantastic Fest. This year features Kevin Smith (of Clerk’s fame) and the debut of his new, dark horror-comedy movie, “Tusk.”

Sept. 19 & 20: Satisfy your need for speed when Le Mans racing comes to Austin for a 6-hour endurance race, featuring Ferraris, Prorsches and Corvettes, to name a few. To add to the fun, Blue Oyster Cult is playing. Tickets start at $79.
When: The big race starts at 5 p.m. Saturday, but other events start on Thursday evening.

Sept. 20: The Austin PRIDE Festival, now in its 24th year, is perhaps the largest LGBTQ advocacy and fundraising event in Central Texas. Check out bands, games, drinks, food and dozens of booths for local nonprofit organizations and businesses.
When: Sept. 20, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Fiesta Gardens, 2101 Jesse E. Segovia St.
Sept. 21: Austin’s museums give everyone a chance to check them out for free on Austin Museum Day. Check out the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center or some street art or dozens of other cultural beauties in the Austin area.
When: Sept. 21 all day

Sept. 27: Didn’t get your trip to Germany booked in time for Oktobertfest? No sweat. Just check out Austoberfest — the Austin version of the beer bash. It happens in the historic Saengerrunde Halle and Scholz Bier Garten. Taste some fantastic sausage and, oh yeah, lots of beer. Add some live music and bowling, and you’ve got an afternoon of good times. Tickets start at $20 — consider booking in advance.
When: Sept. 27, 1 p.m.
Where: Scholz Bier Garten, 1607 San Jacinto Blvd.
Sept. 27: Take a taste of some of Texas’ finest brew. From Austin Beerworks to Real Ale Brewing, you’ll find plenty of barley pop options from 55 breweries across the rather large state of Texas. Tickets are $25 — or $10 if you’re a designated driver.

Sept. 27 & 28: The Pecan Street Festival is one of Austin’s most well-known arts and crafts festival. Find hundreds of artists and vendors from around the globe, all setup along 6th Street in Downtown Austin. The event is free.
When: Sept. 27, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sept. 28, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
