With 2018 in full swing, it’s time to start filling up that new calendar. There are plenty of interesting events happening in Summit and New Providence this month. From taking care of your pet and visiting the winter famers market to supporting public art and education, residents have an array of activities to keep them busy.
Let’s take a look at some of the events coming up this month.
January 6
If your pet needs a rabies shot, a free Dog & Cat Rabies Clinic will be held at the Municipal Center from 8 to 9 a.m. Bring a completed Consent to Administer Rabies Vaccine form with you. Reminder: All pet dogs and cats in New Providence must have up-to-date rabies vaccinations and must be licensed with the Borough each year. The last day to license without penalty is February 28, 2018.

New Providence Public Art’s 3rd Annual Fundraiser promises a fun night of delicious food, a silent auction, and fantastic entertainment, including a comedy and cabaret. All proceeds go toward keeping public art in New Providence. Tickets are $15 per adult, $10 for students and seniors (max $50/family) and are available at the door.

Join the New Providence Amateur Radio Club in cooperation with the Berkeley Heights Recreation Commission and the New Providence Recreation Department for a chance for kids of all ages to operate a Ham Radio Station and speak with other kids from all over the USA, Canada and possibly around the world.

An information session for the PEP Program, a college-access initiative that offers academic support, social-emotional support, and college tuition assistance to select, motivated students from Summit Public Schools in grades 7 to 12.

The Summit Winter Farmers Market will begin its second season on Saturday, Jan. 13, and runs weekly through Saturday, March 31.

The New Providence Education Foundation presents Touchdown For Education, a fun night of raffle, silent auction and games. Wear your favorite team jersey and come out to support NPEF! Tickets are $50 per person, which includes a food and drink ticket. Space is limited. The Summit Free Public Library presents ‘Future-Proof Your Business.’ Grow your business and become more competitive in today’s online retail landscape.
