Retail Roundup: Harris Ridge Area Shopping, Dining and Entertainment

Residents of Harris Ridge do their grocery shopping at the nearby HEB in the Tech Ridge Center on Canyon Ridge Drive. Less than five minutes away, this shopping center has an Office Depot, Petco, several restaurants and wonderful hair and nail salons.

A few minutes north, the Shops at Tech Ridge Plaza include a SuperTarget, Sears, Ross, Best Buy, Kohl’s and several restaurants to choose from. Chick-Fil-A and Chili’s are favorites with many from the neighborhood.

The Domain, just 15 minutes away, features over 100 upscale and traditional retailers. Stores include American Eagle Outfitters, Banana Republic, Dillard’s, Macy’s, Express, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Luxe Apothetique, H&M, as well as Tiffany & Co. and Austin’s only Neiman Marcus. With a number of popular restaurants and an outdoor playscape, The Domain is a popular destination for people from all over Austin.

World-Class Outlet Mall and Regional Shopping Malls Nearby

Many Harris Ridge homeowners travel about 10 minutes further north to shop at the Round Rock Premium Outlets. This outdoor mall has 125 stores including Polo Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic and Coach, to name a few. Across the street from the mall is the only IKEA in Central Texas.

Four other major shopping centers — Arbor Trails, Gateway Shopping Center, Arboretum at Great Hills, and Shops at Arbor Walk — are within about 15 minutes of the neighborhood. Together, these shopping centers host more than 150 quality retailers and restaurants.

Chinese, Indian, Peruvian, Thai, Bangladeshi — and, of Course, Burgers

Golden Wok is also located in the Tech Ridge Center. Residents really do think its quality service and food is golden.  The restaurant serves a surprisingly different take on Chinese and pan-Asian food. Favorites include the mouth-watering steamed fresh chicken dumplings served with ginger soy sauce, and the General Tso’s Chicken, breaded in a pleasantly light and delicate batter and served with an amazing sauce. The Dim Sum menu is extensive and also gets rave reviews. With full bar service, diners enjoy fine mixed drinks, wines and sake.

Other popular Asian and Eastern restaurants in the area include 123 Noodles, Swad Indian Restaurant, Ho Ho Chinese BBQ, Masala Wok, Ka-Prow Thai Food & Sushi Bar, and the Bangladeshi Voss Seafood Restaurant, which serves a Halal menu.

Inka Chicken Charcoal Rotisserie is less than 10 minutes away from Harris Ridge. The main attraction is the charcoal rotisserie roasted chicken — tender, moist, and flavorful. But the co-stars almost steal the show. Diners rave about every one of Inka’s Peruvian influenced sides. The sides include yucca Fries, fried plantains, rice, and black beans. The rest of the sides are almost as well loved — steak fries, macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, white corn, pasta salad, and green salad.

Legendary Burgers and Fries

Boardwalk Burgers and Fries is the place locals go to get a hamburger than isn’t just another hamburger — and some legendary French fries. Boardwalk was founded on the idea that the super-awesome fries the owners loved on the Maryland shore should be available across the country. So they handcut the potatoes daily and follow the same complex cooking routine that made those Maryland fries so popular that people would stand in line to buy a serving.

But they haven’t neglected the burgers. Using fresh, never-frozen, ground beef, the kitchen makes each patty by hand each morning, resulting in excellent tasting fresh hamburgers each and every day.
