Veterans Memorial Park is Cedar Park’s family playground and one of the city’s most popular community centers. Kids love the masterfully designed playgrounds while adults can enjoy free amenities such as separate dog areas, amphitheaters, picnic areas, pavilions, a variety of ball courts and more.
Honoring Those Who Served Our Country
Opened on Memorial Day in 2011, the park was designed as a public playground that honors all veterans past, present, and future. Veterans Memorial Park is structured around Memorial Hill, with many monuments that were contributed from all over Texas to commemorate those who have served our country. Located just off of New Hope Drive, near N. Lakeline Blvd, the park is easily accessible for all Cedar Park residents and is open 7 days a week.
Safe, Imaginative and Pet Friendly
The park features a wild and imaginative playscape. The system was carefully designed with maximum fun and safety in mind. One of the more thoughtful elements of the playscape is the use of innovative construction materials, which were specifically selected to not store or conduct heat like traditional metals and plastics, allowing kids to safely play without having to worry about hot surfaces. Trees and specially-designed tunnels are also present to keep the heat out, and of course the Veterans Memorial Pool is at the heart of the park, a mini-waterpark perfect for the summer.
For dog lovers, the park also includes a 5-acre leash-optional dog park with a shallow pond (complete with a pier for diving dogs), showers, dog water fountains, and a separately-fenced park for small dogs. Lots of trash receptacles and poop bags are provided free of charge to keep the park pristine.
Other amenities include grand pavilions, basketball and tennis courts, fields, and lots of picnic tables. There is also an amphitheater and group pavilions available for rent for any family or community activities.
Veterans Memorial Pool: Luxury Resort Amenities with a Beach-Entry Pool
Veterans Memorial Pool is the centerpiece of Veterans Memorial Park and Cedar Park’s own public mini-waterpark. The 8,500 square foot pool features a friendly atmosphere and lots of cool, fun play areas for the kids. The pool is meticulously maintained, and is a safe and fun place for locals to meet up and cool down together on a hot Texas afternoon. Completed in 2008, the pool was designed for a variety of age groups to enjoy resort-style water activities throughout the summer.
The pool offers the comfort and convenience of a community center with the amenities of a luxury resort with its beach-style entry and 12.5 foot deep end. A large diving platform and a drop-style water slide both dump happy youngsters (and the young at heart) into the pool (kids under 4 feet tall are required to pass a swim test for safety before using either). There are also three small slides suitable for toddlers and younger children.
The place features water basketball courts, suitable for larger kids and even adults. Other amenities include a waterfall and a shallow, covered swimming area that is great for toddlers to splash in and play out of the direct sunlight. There is a fun water slide for kids of any age which features water cannons, spraying spouts, and a mushroom-shaped sprinkler to keep kids wet and happy.
The pool strenuously promotes safety. There are plenty of lifeguards on duty throughout the park, as well as free use of lifejackets for toddlers and young children. The pool has also been designed to have a very open space, allowing parents to keep their eyes on kids from almost any vantage point.
Parades, Movie Nights and Live Concert Performances
Veterans Memorial Park often features many veteran-related activities, such as parades and other events. Often the community gathers to show their support for service men and women. As the local community park, annual events are also often hosted there, including neighborhood movie nights, barbeques, and car shows. Concerts and other live performances are also frequent at the amphitheater.
