Oak Hill Real Estate: A Charming Hill Country Community

Located in South Austin, about 15 minutes from the downtown area, and 20 minutes away from Austin Bergstrom International Airport, Oak Hill is a very large, diverse neighborhood at the edge of the lush, scenic Texas Hill Country.

Oak Hill is comprised of many smaller neighborhoods, which come together as a friendly and affordable community that offers both a tranquil countryside feel and quick access to employers, restaurants, shopping, and all of the legendary entertainment Austin has to offer.

One of the oldest neighborhoods in Austin, homes in Oak Hill date back to the 1800’s, and its original sense of community still flourishes today. Oak Hill’s neighborhood association is an active group of residents who meet regularly to diligently maintain and upgrade the quality and safety of the neighborhood.

“It is like a living in a resort town,” says Becky Hall-Brabandt, a long-time resident who works downtown. “Here it’s quiet, and all the neighbors are friendly. It’s incredible how easy it is to forget that we’re only a few minutes north of Downtown Austin.”

Austin High School is especially renowned for its prominent fine arts program.

Nearby Zilker Park features one of Austin’s natural jewels – the Barton Springs Pool – along with botanical gardens, large open fields, a soccer pitch, extensive children’s playground, and access to the lush half-wild serenity of the Barton Greenbelt. Zilker Park also hosts the internationally famous annual Austin City Limits Music Festival.

The Perfect Place to Create Everlasting Memories

Even closer than Zilker Park, Dick Nichols Park is large, easy to reach, and very popular. Dick Nichols features a community swimming pool, sports fields, lighted basketball court and tennis courts, volleyball courts, a playground, and an extensive picnic area with seventeen tables, a picnic pavilion, ten barbeque grills, an indoor restroom, and a scenic nature trail.

“The park is a great little gem in my neighborhood,” says Cindy Rutherford, an area homeowner who has been coming to the park with the family for years. “I love how convenient it is, and that it helps me avoid paying for a gym membership.”

Cindy and her husband Mark are down at Dick Nichols Park, busy setting up their cameras to capture a great family moment: this is the first time they are taking their 6-year-old daughter Amanda roller-skating. As they guide Amanda onto the trail that surrounds the park, she quickly lets go of their hands and starts gliding along the pebble stones. “Amanda loves the playground and all the walkways,” says Mark. “We rented the picnic area for her 4th birthday party and we all had a blast. It’s the perfect place to make everlasting family memories.”
