Florence was settled in the early 1850s, and has since become one of the most charming and affordable places to live.
The area includes numerous pristine lakes and rivers that offer outstanding year-round recreational activities, such as canoeing, boating, swimming and sport fishing. The lovely Salado Creek, which was designated the first recorded natural landmark in Texas in 1966, winds gently through town, providing a cool respite from the summer heat.
