Florence Real Estate: Enjoy Quiet Country Living

Florence is a friendly little town nestled on the edge of scenic Texas Hill Country. Located only 20 minutes from Georgetown and 50 minutes north of downtown Austin, Florence offers  a home near the city as well as a serene country lifestyle.

One of Central Texas’ best-kept secrets, Florence offers something for everyone, with sprawling ranches and beautiful multiple acre lots, entry-level starter homes, and custom-built luxury estates.

“This is an amazing little town with major potential,” says Kambrah Garland, one of the owners of The Vineyard at Florence, and an area resident since 2007. “We have an eclectic group of people who are passionate about education, history and preserving the community. There are a lot of surprises here in talent and beauty.”

The Great Outdoors for the Whole Family

Florence was settled in the early 1850s, and has since become one of the most charming and affordable places to live.

The area includes numerous pristine lakes and rivers that offer outstanding year-round recreational activities, such as canoeing, boating, swimming and sport fishing. The lovely Salado Creek, which was designated the first recorded natural landmark in Texas in 1966, winds gently through town, providing a cool respite from the summer heat. The area is also rich in wildlife, game birds, and deer, providing excellent hunting and bird watching opportunities.

While the area’s natural, rugged beauty is one great reason to consider buying a home here, the town offers many other attractions for real estate buyers, such as a healthy country lifestyle and a strong sense of community.

Florence is a wonderful place to raise a family — 70% of its residents are families with children. The community is very involved with the schools in the Florence Independent School District, which was given a well regarded “Recognized” rating by the Texas Education Agency. Practically everyone in town proudly supports the local high school’s Buffaloes football, basketball, baseball and softball teams. Florence High is also the only high school in Texas that offers a Meat Science Program, which has recently celebrated 15 years of success.

Close to City Attractions but Plenty of Fun Close to Home

Folks who live in the area enjoy spending time at Florence City Park, which has a playscape for kids, picnic tables, a baseball field, community swimming pool, and a covered pavilion perfect for summer birthdays and barbecues.

Community involvement and the area’s pioneer heritage are very important to Florence residents, who participate in fun-filled town clean-up events each spring and fall. The town proudly honors local veterans of foreign wars, whose names are recorded at a War Memorial downtown. The community is also home to numerous family-friendly festivals, such as the annual Old World Stone Carving festival, which celebrates local artists and musicians.

Conveniently located less than an hour from everything the big city has to offer, the local community has multiple attractions to make life easy and fun, including unique gift shops, antique stores, a complete grocery store, two medical clinics, and a wonderful local library.

Dining options range from the small-town home-cooked dishes at local Tex-Mex favorite El Charrito to the historic Rattlesnake Inn (one of the few true honky-tonk roadhouses left in Texas). And for elegant dining, there is fine cuisine and wine tasting at The Vineyard at Florence. There is something to delight almost everyone in this beautiful and enchanting Hill Country community.
