Great Hills Real Estate: Golf Course Luxury in the Scenic Rolling Hills

Located in northwest Austin, Great Hills is an upscale neighborhood that offers residents an elegant and active lifestyle.

The popular Great Hills Country Club is the neighborhood’s crown jewel, a luxurious and private retreat that offers swimming, golf, and tennis. Golfers appreciate the prestige associated with the 18-hole course hosting a number of PGA- and USGA-sanctioned tournaments. The honor of being selected to host high-profile events is easy to understand. The course is settled amid natural streams, creeks, and stone formations, and is designed to show off the beautiful scenery of the Texas Hill Country. However, it is quite a challenge. The last three holes are exceptionally demanding exercises in precision.

While this is a private club, social memberships are offered for people who just want to play tennis or use the pool and the spacious stone clubhouse that offers great dining, both formal and casual.

For even more outdoor enjoyment, Great Hills Park runs along its own greenbelt. Several small creeks run through the area and intersect with the Great Hills hike-and-bike trails. The park offers its own pavilion and a playscape as well as lots of picnic tables, and is very popular with locals.

Great Hills Shopping is a Walk in the Park

As the bright Saturday sun shines over Austin, the lush canopy of mature trees gently sways, shading the Great Hills neighborhood while Kimberly Gallagher and her 5-year-old daughter Katie take their time and enjoy the breeze. Living less than 5 minutes away, they are ahead of schedule to be at the Arboretum Shopping Center by noon. They have a busy day planned: shopping, a picnic, and a movie, all at the same location.

“I love the Arboretum because it’s literally a walk in the park,” Kimberly laughs. “I love to come here and just relax, and maybe do some occasional shopping. Katie loves Amy’s Ice Cream, but who am I kidding — I love it too! There’s even a salon here for me to really relax. That’s the key to the Arboretum and the Great Hills neighborhood, it’s just the perfect place to relax.”
