“There’s a lot of seclusion, and there’s not a lot of traffic,” says Pamela Rogers. “So, it stood out for me because of the proximity to downtown and the parks,” says Anne Kenna. “But it also stood out for me because it is very close to great shopping, and you don’t have to drive 30 minutes to do your daily shopping.”

Not only is it easy to get downtown, but residents of Maple Run can also enjoy several family-friendly parks close by. Just minutes from Maple Run is an Austin gem, Dick Nichols Park. Covering more than 150 acres, the park is a popular spot among residents and is often busy with families picnicking, children playing in the water feature and playground, or bikers flying down the extensive paved trails that wind around the park. Locals enjoy the large swimming pool, toddler pool, softball fields, basketball courts, lighted tennis courts, a pavilion, barbecue grills and picnic tables.
Also nearby, Longview Park is just 5 minutes away with its 20 acres of green space, playground, basketball courts, picnic tables, and walking trails. Another neighborhood favorite, the 9-acre Karst Preserve, features water-formed caves and plenty of winding trails that give nature lovers the chance to explore, hike, and interact with rare native species.
In addition to the abundance of outdoor recreation, schools attended by Maple Run students include Boone Elementary (which is situated within the neighborhood), and Covington Middle School, Crockett High School and Bowie High School, all located close by.
“It’s the kind of neighborhood where everyone knows each other,” says Anne Kenna, who has lived in Maple Run for the past 7 years. “It’s a great mix of young people and older couples, but everybody has a great sense of community and openness.”
