Canyon Creek Real Estate: A Charming Family Lifestyle

Canyon Creek is a picturesque neighborhood with lush, tall trees and beautiful homes situated on wide streets along rolling hills. Located only 5 minutes from major shopping centers, only 10 minutes to either Lake Travis or Lake Austin, and just 25 minutes to downtown Austin, this peaceful community offers easy access to shopping, dining, recreation and entertainment.

For recreation close to home, Canyon Creek residents have two neighborhood parks from which to choose. Canyon Creek Park includes playground equipment, a sand volleyball court, tennis courts and a junior Olympic-size pool featuring a children’s area and abundant shade. Trailhead Park encompasses nearly 14 acres of green space with soccer, lacrosse and softball fields, a basketball court, a covered playground, and 2.5 miles of hike-and-bike trails that are popular among hikers in the area, with lots of opportunities to see local birds and wildlife.

Outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers appreciate Canyon Creek’s proximity to the Balcones Canyonland Preserve, just a few miles away. The preserve is a national wildlife refuge created to protect eight endangered species, their habitat and other native plants and animals of the Texas Hill Country. Also popular and close by, Lake Travis and Lake Austin offer endless opportunities for water sports and hiking, or just relaxing and enjoying the breathtaking views.

A 4th of July parade, Easter egg hunt, fall festival and Christmas lighting festival are among the many annual events presented by the Canyon Creek HOA.

In addition to convenient proximity to tech employers such as Motorola and Dell, Canyon Creek is a great place to receive a quality education. Children attend schools from the critically acclaimed Round Rock and Leander Independent School Districts. Both the Texas Education Agency and US News and World Report give several of the area’s schools their highest ranking. Westwood High School is continually rated one of the Top 5 high schools in the state and one of the Top 50 in the nation.

Residential real estate development in Canyon Creek began in the late 1980s and continues today. Many of the older homes have been added onto or updated with modern amenities and design features, and rear yard swimming pools are common as well. Homes range in size from 1,650 square feet to more than 4,000 square feet.

“I love the beautiful trees and rolling landscape and can picture it as a scenic ranch many years ago,” says Kathy Dixon, a retired teacher who now tutors math and has lived in Canyon Creek since 1998 with her husband Sam. “I feel very safe here and close to my neighbors. It’s a unique and special neighborhood, like a little town where we visit with each other when we are outside, and wave every time someone drives by.”

An Enviable Location Treasured by Its Residents

With lake access just a few minutes away, Canyon Creek residents delight in the natural surrounding attractions and the proximity of downtown and airport travel, as well as the convenience of nearby dining and shopping venues. Two parks and the nearby Balcones Nature Preserve offer plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities and evening entertainment, including movies, live sports and music, just a short drive away. Canyon Creek exists as a microcosm of Austin, brimming with personality, attraction and charm.

“We moved here from Los Angeles and chose Canyon Creek because it is an excellent environment to raise our son,” says Irene Fogelsong, who transferred here with her husband David 5 years ago. “This is a perfect location. I volunteer at the elementary school and have found that this is a very friendly neighborhood. It’s very easy to make friends here.”
