Forest Creek Real Estate: Golf Course Luxury at an Affordable Price

A master-planned golf course community in Round Rock, Forest Creek is just 30 minutes north of downtown Austin. With its mature foliage, attractively landscaped streets and gentle hills, people who live in Forest Creek love the area’s small town charm.

“We’re a very tight-knit community. Everyone knows everybody,” says Stephanie Doherty, who’s lived in Forest Creek for seven years. “We feel really comfortable here. It sounds kind of like ‘Leave it to Beaver,’ and I guess it really is.”

Development of Forest Creek began in 1985 and continues today. Featuring a variety of architectural details, homes range from affordable 1,200-square-foot floor plans to luxury custom estates with more than 6,000 square feet of living space.

Many of Forest Creek’s residences are adjacent to a city owned, par 72 golf course. Recently awarded the “Best Public Golf Course in Central Texas” by Golf Digest, the Forest Creek Golf Club is both fun for beginners and challenging for advanced golfers. The course offers a grill, event center, pro shop and practice range, in addition to a putting green and short game complex.

Abundant Recreation, Highly Regarded Schools and an Active Social Scene

Forest Creek residents appreciate the neighborhood’s feature-rich amenity center, which includes a junior Olympic pool as well as three additional swimming pools. The center also provides two tennis courts, picnic tables, cookout grills and a playground. Additionally, Forest Creek residents enjoy miles of scenic trails to ride bikes, jog or walk their dogs.

Neighbors in Forest Creek also enjoy an active social life. The Forest Creek Homeowners Association hosts a variety of community events, including Fall Fest at the Park, the 12 Days of Christmas celebration, National Night Out and a Fourth of July parade.

The area’s highly regarded schools in the Round Rock Independent School District make Forest Creek a popular choice for families. Neighborhood children attend Forest Creek Elementary, which was rated “Exemplary” by the Texas Education Agency in 2011. Older kids attend nearby Ridgeview Middle School and Cedar Ridge High School.

“We moved here because of the elementary school. We researched it and decided it would be the best for our children,” says Doherty, mother of two.

Tennis, Swimming and Having Fun Every Day

With a giant huff, the teenager sends the tennis ball whizzing across the net; it bounces neatly into her brother’s area of the court, but he can’t quite get to it — another ace for his sister! The teens’ dad lets out a joyful whoop; he and his daughter are playing really well against the other half of the family. Even though mom and son aren’t having their best day on the courts at Forest Creek, everyone is having fun and looking forward to heading over to the community’s junior Olympic pool, where the family will enjoy a swim to cool off after tennis.

“I see plenty of families and groups of friends out here playing tennis,” says Greg Thompson, a 12-year Forest Creek resident and member of the neighborhood association’s board of directors. “We have a tennis group that I play in every Monday night. Six or eight of us show up at the tennis courts and we play a round robin doubles match.  That’s a lot of fun.”

A Planned Paradise of Community and Convenience

Forest Creek’s diverse selection of attractive homes, quiet streets and plentiful amenities are bonus features for residents who are especially appreciative of the neighborhood’s convenient proximity to downtown Austin, as well as the wide variety of shopping, dining and entertainment nearby.

Golfers can’t wait to hit the greens at Forest Creek Golf Club, the highly ranked public golf course around which the neighborhood is situated. Some residents are even lucky enough to see fairways from their back windows.

Neighborhood kids love the pools and the tennis courts. Families like gathering with friends at Forest Creek’s park and cookout area. “I’m on the neighborhood events planning committee; we’re always planning events at the park,” says Doherty. “And of course we use the pools a lot during summer. There’s always something fun happening here regardless of the time of year. Forest Creek is just a great place to live.”
