Meridian Real Estate: Enjoy Every Day Like an Extended Vacation

Meridian’s stunning homes stand against an equally impressive backdrop. Positioned on the border of the Texas Hill Country, the scenic region’s prime real estate is lush and colorful with beautiful green hills. The unbeatable scenery is one of the chief reasons the New York Times called this area the No. 1 vacation destination in North America.

A master-planned community southwest of downtown Austin, Meridian is a highly sought-after real estate development for people looking to buy a home in an area that balances serene countryside living with resort-style neighborhood amenities.

Prime Real Estate for the Prime of Your Life

Residential real estate development in Meridian began in 2005, and construction of new homes continues today. Featuring modern designs and amenities, real estate listings for resale and new construction floor plans range from comfortable, family-size homes to elegant luxury estates situated on spacious, oversized lots.

“Living here feels like an extended vacation,” says Natalia Schultz, an operational director for a local startup and a Meridian homeowner. “I work downtown, so I wanted to live in a more quiet area with a small-town feel, and Meridian has it all.”

In addition to convenience and beautiful scenery, Meridian is a great place to receive a quality education. Located in the Austin Independent School District, children attend Baldwin Elementary, Clint Small Middle School and Bowie High. Baldwin Elementary, one of AISD’s newest schools, is located within the neighborhood and across from a community pool, pavilion and park. Clint Small and Bowie schools are only a 10-minute drive from the neighborhood.

With a community park and gated community pool, as well as 450 acres of real estate dedicated to open green space, residents enjoy lots of activities, including golf, swimming, tennis and hiking. Locals also enjoy the nearby 3.1-mile Veloway, a 23-foot wide, paved trail designed exclusively for runners, bikers and rollerbladers.

“I come home from work and do my working out and vacationing at the same time,” Natalie laughs. “What more could you want?”

A Golfer’s Dream Come True

On a brilliant, cloudless Saturday morning, the crowd is sparse at the Grey Rock Golf Club, but definitely active. Golfers are readily emerging from the clubhouse, a modern limestone building tucked into a grove of mature oak trees with a welcoming front porch.

“It’s a golfer’s dream come true,” says Aya Sinfield, Meridian resident and insurance manager who frequents the golf course with her husband Peter. “They really make you feel at home here. The second time I came here with my husband, the staff here recognized me by name. It’s a great feeling.”

The Grey Rock Golf Club, which sits across the street from Meridian, features a Jay Morrish-designed 18-hole master course on 160 acres of gorgeous Texas Hill Country land. Open to the public, the golf club is renowned for its distinctive balance of warm ambiance and plush elegance, resulting in a casual and comfortable feeling while playing in luxury.

For a more exclusive experience, golfers sometimes venture to the nearby Circle C Golf Course, but Aya says there’s one reason to return to Grey Rock: the homemade breakfast tacos from Putter’s Grill in the clubhouse.

“Just grab a taco and get on the green,” Aya advises. “Tee time waits for no one.”

Austin’s Most Family-Friendly Community

With many real estate listings for sale, as well as the option of buying a new construction home, people looking to buy a home in Meridian have plenty of choices of where to live. And after moving in, they have plenty of choices for how to create the lifestyle of their dreams. In addition to just staying home and enjoying the neighborhood’s peaceful country atmosphere, the neighborhood is also close to a wide range of Austin’s most popular attractions.

Easy access to Highway 45, Mopac Expressway and Interstate 290, dazzling downtown Austin’s fine dining and live music scene is just 15 minutes away. For vacation or business travel, the Austin-Bergstrom Airport can be reached in 25 minutes. Residents also enjoy convenient access to major shopping malls, popular restaurants, and family-friendly entertainment.

Meridian’s coveted greenbelt location gives its residents the best Texas Hill Country views as well as a variety of ways to have fun amid the natural splendors of Southwest Austin. Homeowners walk or jog along the trails, frolic with kids on the community park playground, or go for a dip in the community pool. Golfers enjoy teeing off at one of the two neighborhood golf courses, while nature lovers take full advantage of nearby Lady Bird Johnson National Wildflower Center. Founded by Lady Bird Johnson and actress Helen Hayes in 1982, the wildflower center is an open ranch preserve that features native plants and wildlife, along with frequent art displays.

“It’s the best area of Austin,” confirms Theo Pobbard, a stay-at-home writer and Meridian homeowner. “The natural beauty of Southwest Austin really comes out here, and I love the school district. It’s the most family-friendly real estate community you’ll find in Austin and just a great place to relax and enjoy watching your kids grow up.”
