University Hills Real Estate: Timeless, Affordable and Appealing

Lush lawns and towering trees lend a peaceful and serene feeling to the University Hills neighborhood. Many residents relish their morning walks among the shady, winding streets or relaxing and enjoying the tranquil atmosphere at home on weekends. Conveniently located, downtown Austin is 15 minutes away, while Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is about a 20-minute drive.

Development of University Hills began in 1936 and continued through 2008. As expected in an area developed over an extended period of time, there is a vast range of home styles here ranging from mid-century classics to contemporary, 21st-century designs. Many of the one- and two-story homes have been updated with modern amenities and design features, adding to the neighborhood’s diverse blend of architectural details and charming character which has endured through the decades. This is an attractive area for homeowners looking for close-in, yet affordable living in one of the most exciting cities in the country.

“I have lived here since I moved to Austin in 1982,” says Gary Garcia, a long-time resident and owner of the neighborhood’s popular Tres Amigos Cantina. “I began working for Tres Amigos that year, so I have had a chance to see a lot of things in Northeast Austin. I am happy folks are starting to notice this really cool spot in Austin. It is a very friendly and close-knit community.”
