Woodcreek Real Estate: A Romantic Destination for Nature Lovers
Living in Woodcreek offers a study in contrasts. Nestled in Wimberley Valley near Cypress Creek and the Blanco River, Woodcreek is surrounded by pristine nature, abundant wildlife and the beautiful scenery of the Texas Hill Country. Although known for its charming country lifestyle, Woodcreek is only about 45 minutes south of Austin and less than an hour from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
It’s truly the best of both worlds. Austin is famous as a city of casual elegance with a legendary music scene, world-class shopping and dining, and – increasingly – a dynamic technology industry. Woodcreek is Austin’s quiet, thoughtful cousin where residents appreciate making their home in a tranquil, peaceful community. Neighbor to the quaint, historic town of Wimberly, Woodcreek real estate owners enjoy the same quality of life and cultural experiences that has made this area a mecca for artists and nature lovers.
“This is a quiet, quaint and naturally beautiful spot,” says Hunter Jones, manager of The Lodge at Cypress Falls. “Woodcreek is a destination town for people who love nature. “

Woodcreek is also an ideal location for golfers. Established in the 1970’s as Eagle Rock Resort, the 688-acre master-planned golf community was designed as a resort and residential real estate venture. Over time, Woodcreek evolved to what it is now – a community of almost 500 families.
Although Woodcreek was incorporated in 1984, all real estate, including homes and businesses, have a Wimberly address and are served by the Wimberly Independent School District of Hays County.
The heart of the community is the semi-private Quicksand Golf Course. Designed by Bruce Littell, the Quicksand course opened in 1972 and is available for public play. The 18-hole course features 6,470 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 with a course rating is 70.9 and it has a slope rating of 116 on Bermuda grass.

Homeowners enjoy the convenience of shopping and dining options just a few minutes from home in nearby Wimberly. Wimberly’s historic downtown area has many locally owned stores, antique shops and art galleries clustered around the Town Square and Olde Towne Plaza, with performing arts venues showcasing local talent year-round. Long-time local favorite, the Cypress Creek Café, is also located on the square. For more than 30 years, the Cypress Creek Café has built its reputation by serving delicious home-style cooking and promoting local musicians.
In addition, bargain hunters and serious shoppers with an extensive wish list are just a 25-minute drive from truly sensational retail destinations. Combined, the outlet malls (Premium Outlets and Tanger Factory Outlet Center) have more than 350 stores and more than 1,000,000 square feet of retail space. During the holidays, shoppers reach numbers that triple the population of San Marcos.
The Enticing Aroma of Lavender Fields on a Warm Summer Day
Woodcreek’s Annual Blanco Lavender Festival in June attracts families from all over Austin, San Marcos, San Antonio, Houston and beyond, to breathe in the intoxicating aroma of fresh lavender and participate in the festivities. Artists flock to the Wimberley Lavender Farm to capture the rich hues of lavender, blue and green in their work while visitors take their time in the gift shop to buy the soaps, lotions and sprigs of fresh lavender for sale.
Wimberly Market Days, the first Saturday, March through December, is the oldest outdoor market in the Texas Hill Country with about 500 vendors showcasing a wide variety of locally produced wares for sale. Shoppers buy handcrafted goods, taste local foods and listen to live music. And when shoppers get warm, they can take a dip or dangle their feet in the cool waters of nearby Cypress Falls, famous as one of the area’s best swimming holes. “Weekenders love to come here to swim,” says Jones.
